Old Forge, NY hosted its annual “Thunder
in the Forge” motorcycle rally, from May 29 through the 31. Although “Thunder in the Forge” is small by
other motorcycle rally’s standards, it still had a lot to offer; with vendors selling clothing, food, led lights (complete
with on-the-spot installation), music (battle of the bands), and a place to get tattoos.
The highlight of this event was the bike show which had about 15 different classes: radical,
custom, antique, stock, sportster, full dresser, sportster custom, stock, 3 wheeler, mod custom, mild custom, manufactured
custom, metric custom, to metric stock. You name it was here.
Black Label Choppers, out of Dover, NJ won the best show bike. They are also an authorized dealer for American Iron
Horse. One of the judges was Jack Peagazio, of the Rats Hole Group, Jack was really thorough and took his time, inspecting
every detail of the motorcycles entered.
After
enjoying a leisurely day checking out the various custom built choppers and listening to some good music, you could literally
walk into Old Forge to relax by the lake, or if you chose to, you could find a number of places serving food and drinks. You
could stop by Slicker’s for some more tunes, a brew or two and a bite to eat, or just get on your motorcycle and take
a nice ride in the countryside.
This is a nice little rally to get you
primed for the main event over in Lake George, NY – Americade which starts the following week.
